Leonardo da` VINCI || inventions
Leonardo Da Vinci made incredible inventions. He liked to design machines of flight, and did not so much like designing war machines. The only reason he made them was to get funded by the Aristocracy. Leonardo thought five hundred years ahead of his time. He was a visionary, looked differently at the tank, helicopter, hang-glider and parachute and saw what they could be and how they could work. He had visions that man could fly, swim and battle differently, but many of his inventions did not work. This does not mean he was any less smart. No one can come up with a design, draw it, and have it work especially when he had barely any material for testing and no formal teaching. Another contributing factor t why some of Leonardo's inventions did not work was when Leonardo was alive there was no copyright (to have no one steal your idea) so Leonardo would put bugs in his machines, so if someone would steal it or it got into the wrong hands, the invention would not work. However, no royal really wanted these inventions because they could not imagine them to be real or work.
One of Leonardo's most important visionaries was the tank. When Leonardo designed the tank, he had gears on the wheels, and inside was a crank. Leonardo made the gears turn the wheels inward, allowing the machine to not move. He could have done this to protect his invention from being copied or getting into the wrong hands, or he did this by mistake.
Inside the machine were cannons to shoot the enemies. The design of the roof was good because it was slanted and could not allow the enemies to get in to the machine as easily.
While Leonardo was inventing war machines, he thought the idea of killing an animal for no intent reason was wrong, but he thought to kill man was even worse. The only reason he made war machines was to make money by presenting the inventions to Royalty. Most of the time his machines would get rejected, because that the royals did not think much of these inventions.
If you built Leonardo’s tank using his “blueprints”, the tank would not make it past rocks, hills, mud or sand but it was amazing because he looked at warfare in a completely new way. The difference between the tank today and his was that this machine was made five hundred years earlier.

While he was interested in warfare, he was fascinated by trying to get man to fly. Some of his other inventions were a bird-like flying machine, a hang-glider and a parachute. The hang-glider he made was almost identical to the ones we have today. Leonardo was inspired by flight. Many of his inventions had to do with letting humans fly. One of the most popular inventions of flight he made was the helicopter. Despite how it does not look that much as modern helicopters, it has the same functions. He would spend a good part of his time studying and observing birds. Leonardo even took the concept of birds and made it into a contraption for humans to fly in, plus the machine looked bird-like.
